Abstract: The interplay between photons and phonons within optomechanical systems presents a formidable toolkit for manipulating the quantum state of mechanical degrees of freedom. Remarkably, mechanical systems can be coupled to both microwave and optics, thus providing a promising interface to coherently interface microwave and optical systems (quantum transduction), an important aspect for quantum information processing.
In this presentation I will present an approach that relies on superconducting circuits for the readout and control of mechanical systems with varied configuration. This 'brick-by-brick' approach provides a rich playground for both technological applications (e.g., transduction, sensing) as well as fundamental sciences.
