Summary
Protein Production Sweden (PPS) is a national research infrastructure established in 2022 that focuses on the production and purification of proteins for all Swedish researchers, from both academia and companies. Well-established protein production platforms at five universities (at four geographical sites) collaborate and offer expert competence to form the infrastructure PPS. Researchers across Sweden will obtain access to high-quality design, production, and purification of recombinant proteins, based on their research needs. All researchers can apply for project support via a joint PPS web-based entry-point found at www.gu.se/pps. PPS performs protein expression in six different expression systems (E. coli, P. pastoris, Insect cells (BEVS), Plant cells, Mammalian Cells, and Cell-free expression). We also offer two Gateway modules aiming at producing specialty reagents for use in neutron scattering or X-ray crystallography.
At the Sahlgrenska Academy at GU, the Mammalian Protein Expression core facility produces proteins in mammalian cells as a part of PPS’ services. This presentation will give information about our services and will include some examples of proteins that we have already produced.
