Short Bio:

In his thesis titled “Development of Structural Steels for Powder Bed Fusion – Laser Beam” William Hearn examined the suitability and performance of structural steel when using the additive manufacturing process of Powder Bed Fusion – Laser Beam. The goal of this work was to expand the materials portfolio of the process to further the application of produced parts in the automotive, railway and construction industries.
William Hearn has a background in Materials Science and Engineering. During his PhD, his research focused on additive manufacturing of metallic material, specifically on alloy development for powder-based technologies.
