Seminar with Prof. Erik Bitzek from the Max-Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials.
Overview
- Date:Starts 22 August 2024, 14:00Ends 22 August 2024, 16:00
- Language:English
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Erik Bitzek joined the Computational Materials Design department at the MPSusMat in September 2021 and is affiliated with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg where he holds a chair of general materials properties. His research focuses on the multi-scale modelling of fracture, properties of dislocations and grain boundaries, nanomechanics and small-scale plasticity, mechanical behavior of interface-dominated materials, plasticity and fracture of complex crystals, among other topics. Prof. Bitzek serves the scientific community amongst others as member of the editorial board of the Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials and the Journal of Molecular Modeling, as coordinator of the German part of the International Research Network (GDRI) “Mechanics of Nano-Objects” (MECANO), member of the Executive Committee of the conference series “Dislocations”, and co-initiator of the working group 3D Materials Data Science of the German Materials Research Society (DGM).
