EmPOWERing All: Inclusive Energy Transitions

On 24 April, stakeholders - policy makers, energy technology developers, and researchers - will meet at a conference in Vienna. They will highlight the research results and efforts of the IEA UsersTCP Gender and Energy Task and discuss future developments and challenges in the field. Final conference Gender & Energy on 24 April. The Gender & Energy Task will host a full-day conference in Vienna and online. The day will highlight the research results and efforts of the IEA UsersTCP Gender and Energy Task and will discuss future developments and challenges in the field.

The event gathers stakeholders such as policy makers, energy technology developers, and researchers. It also includes representatives from the IEA and TCP, as well as delegates from NGOs, NPOs and international organizations.

The aim is to support the participating countries in designing a more efficient and inclusive energy system, thus promoting the energy transition. Thus, the conference offers an opportunity for key stakeholders in inclusive and sustainable energy transitions to come together and delve into critical issues. More info on the conference website.

Gender & Energy is a Task within the IEA collaboration Users TCP. The work has been ongoing since January 2021 and on 24 April it is time for the final conference in Vienna, with the possibility to participate digitally. The event is open to all interested parties.

Preliminary agenda:

  • An engaging panel discussion on "Empowering Energy Users" and "Gender-Responsivee Energy Policies"
  • An interactive workshop focusing on "Inclusive Energy Technologies"
  • A stimulating dialogue addressing "Knowledge Gaps"
  • Ample networking opportunities


Participants include - in addition to the researchers involved in the project - representatives of authorities, legislators and energy companies, developers and consultants in energy technology, as well as stakeholders from the IEA and other international organisations.


The Task is led by Anna Åberg, senior researcher at Science, Technology and Society at Chalmers University of Technology.

Boid is participating in the co-operation and has developed and tested a concept for how household energy systems can become more inclusive, equitable and efficient.
