Abstract

Ensuring the safe deployment of deep learning models
in real-world applications, especially for safety-critical
applications, requires models that can identify out-ofdistribution
(OOD) anomalies and provide well-calibrated
prediction confidences. However, highly accurate models
often make overly confident predictions for spurious inputs.
This report summarizes the recent methods regarding calibration
and OOD detection accordingly and positions our
own research in the context of recent work in this domain.
