Apply for a scholarship for field studies abroad

Chalmers has two scholarships where you can get support for a longer field studies abroad. Welcome to attend a information meeting and learn more about The Global Mentorship Program and Minor Field Studies. At the seminar you will get more information about the scholarships, practicalities around travelling and more.

The Global Mentorship Program (GMP)

This is a mentorship program funded by a private donation, with focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and internationalization in low- and middle-income countries in Asia, Africa and South America.

In addition to the academic supervisor and examiner you will have a mentor in Sweden and a local mentor in the country where the data collection for the master’s thesis is conducted.

Who can apply? All students at Chalmers.
Scholarship: Maximum 50 000 SEK.
Field study: Minimum 8 weeks abroad, the mentorship program lasts for one year starting in January 2027.

Minor Field Studies (MFS)

Are you planning to do a degree project that can contribute to sustainable development in a low- or middle-income country? This scholarship is for field studies carried out in connection with degree projects in the spring of 2027.

The thesis topic should align with one or more strategies relevant to Swedish development cooperation in the host country for the field study and must be in a country where Sweden conducts development cooperation.

The scholarship is funded by the Swedish development aid organization SIDA and one purpose is for students to improve their knowledge of global development issues and to prepare for work in global contexts and organizations. 

Who can apply: Active students at Chalmers who are Swedish citizens or have been registered residents in Sweden for at least one year at the time of the application.
Scholarship: 25 000 SEK.
Field study: At least 6 weeks (max 20 weeks) abroad during the spring semester, no later than 30 June.
