Abstract

Borders are paradoxical spaces. They are sites of restriction and experimentation, resilience and precarity. This lecture explores how border urbanism and speculative design intersect to reveal new architectural possibilities. Drawing from research on the Tijuana-San Diego region and comparative global contexts, the talk examines informality as a generator of spatial intelligence and AI as a tool for architectural speculation. Through visual storytelling and studies in social housing, this discussion critically engages with the role of technology in shaping adaptable, resilient, and future urban narrative.
