Welcome to attend Kun Gao's promotion lecture to Docent at the Division of Geology and Geotechnics, The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, where he also leads the Research Area Urban Mobility Systems. Mingle and celebration after the lecture!
Abstract:
This lecture presents my past and ongoing research aimed at advancing sustainable mobility to meet future demands in terms of sustainability, efficiency, safety, and equity through systematic perspectives. Emphasis is placed on enhancing infrastructure, operation and user perspectives required for future sustainable and intelligent mobility systems.
The research encompasses multiple dimensions within transport systems, with particular attention devoted to two specific areas.
1) Transport electrification: charging infrastructure deployment and operation optimisation with energy supply for future scenarios of large-scale electrification;
2) Digitalized and data-driven management and planning of transport-road systems leveraging big data and AI.
Building upon the research, the lecture further outlines important avenues for future research essential for facilitating a sustainable and efficient transition to next-generation mobility systems. This includes addressing key considerations across infrastructure, system operation, methodological advancements, data, and user-centric aspects.
