The Swedish Mechanics Days 2024

This is the 28th edition in the series of biannual conferences arranged by the Swedish National Committee for Mechanics since 1974. The conference takes place from 17 to 19 June 2024 and will cover analytical, experimental, numerical as well as pedagogical/educational studies in the broad field of mechanics.

Chalmers University of Technology is honored to host the 28th Swedish Mechanics Days (SMD 2024). The conference provides an excellent opportunity for both senior researchers and PhD students to present and share ongoing research in the broad field of mechanics.

Important deadlines

  • Deadline for abstracts extended, 28 March
  • Acceptance of abstracts, no later than 5 April
  • Early bird registration with reduced conference fee, until 12 April
  • Final registration, 10 May

PhD student awards

In conjunction with the Swedish Mechanics Days 2024, the National Committee, with support from Swedish industry, announces five awards for PhD students active in the field of mechanics. The awards are supported by Swedish industry and amount to 20,000 SEK.

Guided tour and dinner at World of Volvo

On the second day of the conference, we invite you to join us for a guided tour and dinner at World of Volvo, Gothenburg's new experience centre opening in April 2024.

The exhibition is a mix of digital and physical experiences, allowing you to explore the innovations of Volvo – from 1927 when the company was founded to the present day.
