Materials Science Photo Competition
In concurrence with the conference Materials for Tomorrow the Area of Advance Materials Science organize a materials science photo competition. The idea is to bring forth the beauty that can be found in materials science.

Five finalist images will be chosen by a jury and displayed at the Materials for Tomorrow conference where attendees cast their vote to select the winner. 

The first prize is a research stay at an international university. The second and third prizes are conference grants that gives the opportunity to participate in an international research conference.

The photo competition is open for PhD students and Postdocs at Chalmers and the Department of Biomaterials at University of Gothenburg.

To participate:

  • Send maximum three (3) high resolution images to materials@chalmers.se no later than OCT 31.
  • Describe your images in a few sentences, and the technique that was used to capture them.
  • Give your images a creative (short) name.


Terms: Editing may be used to enhance features or removing artefacts in your image, but not to add content. The use of AI to generate images is not allowed. By entering the competition the contestant give their permission to The Area of Advance Material Science to edit, alter and use the images for communications in digital and printed media.

The jury's decision cannot be revoked.
