Rajhans Sharma


Dr. Rajhans Sharma joined Prof. Fredrik Westerlund’s group in June 2018 as a post-doctoral researcher. His research focuses on using micro/nanofluidic technologies in combination with fluorescence microscopy to monitor protein induced static and dynamic changes in single DNA molecule confined in nanochannels. Throughout various protein-DNA interactions as seen in living cells, it is well known that the formation of nucleoprotein complex incurs transformations in structural properties of DNA. The multifunctional roles of proteins are driven by their nucleic acid chaperoning property which allows effective remodeling of the nucleic acid sequences. The aim of our study is to identify the roles of proteins involved in Non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) mechanism to repair the double strand breaks (DSB) in DNA.
