Yvonne Nygård

Biology and Biological Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology

Yvonne Nygård works as Associate Professor at the Division of Industrial Biotechnology. Before moving to Sweden in 2017, Yvonne worked as a postdoctoral fellow at DSM Biotechnology and University of Groningen in the Netherlands. In 2019, Yvonne was awarded the Hasselblad foundation Female Researcher grant and in 2022 the Novo Nordisk foundation Ascending Researcher grant. Yvonne’s main research interest is to develop microbial cell factories for industrial applications. She is also the CSO of a start-up, Cirkulär AB that works on developing filamentous fungi for valorization of side-stream biomass.

Yvonne is the Director of the master’s Programme of Biotechnology at Chalmers. She is also the coordinator of the Industrial Biotechnology for Lignocellulose Based Processes course (5 ETCS; international PhD course ) and examiner of BBT035 – Technical Microbiology and BBT070 - Advanced molecular and synthetic biology.
