Christian Müller

Professor; Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

Christian Müller is a Professor at Chalmers since 2017. He received an ERC Starting Grant in 2014 and is a Wallenberg Academy Fellow. In 2016 he became a SSF Future Research Leader.

Prior to his appointment at Chalmers, where he had been working as an Assistant and then Associate Professor from 2012-2017, he completed a one-year research fellowship at the Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) and a two-year post-doctoral stay at Linköpings universitet. He holds a Dr.Sc. in Materials Science from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zürich (2008), for which he was awarded the ETH medal, as well as a M.Sci. and B.A. in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University (2004).

His group focuses on the physical chemistry of organic semiconductors, polymer blends and composites, and develops new plastic materials for wearable electronics and energy technologies ranging from organic solar cells and thermoelectrics to power cables. He has published more than 130 papers and 3 book chapters. Moreover, he is a co-inventor of 20 patents or patent applications.

Master courses

Polymer Chemistry and Physics, KBT026 (7.5 HP)

The course aims to provide a fundamental understanding of the chemistry and physics of polymers and focuses on the following topics: synthesis, characterisation, structure-property relationships and the physics of solutions and the solid state.

Polymer Technology, KPO021 (7.5 HP)

The course aims to provide a comprehensive knowledge about polymer technology and focuses on the interplay of processing and the properties of the resulting polymeric materials.

Bachelor course

Colloids and Polymers, KTK106 (4.5 HP)

The course aims to provide a basic understanding of surface and colloid chemistry as well as materials chemistry, with an emphasis on polymeric materials, for a wide range of industrial applications.
