Centre for Applied Mathematics and Statistics

Purpose

The center is a joint center between Chalmers University of Technology (CTH) and Göteborg University (GU). It was built in order to establish and maintain contacts and cooperation between the two universities and industry.

Main tasks

The center offers mathematical and statistical consulting to researchers in other areas, both at universities and in industry.

Every year the center also organizes a contact day between universities and industry. We have had people (including our former students), who are working in industry, giving seminars on their current work. These speakers come from many different areas ranging from car industry (Volvo) to drug industry (AstraZeneca)

Board

The center has a board that discusses the activities as well as the future development of the center. Since April 2005 Malte Andersson (Zoology, GU), Mikael Käll (Physics, CTH), Aila Särkkä (Chairman) and Bernt Wennberg (Mathematical Sciences) have been the members of the board.
