Lunch seminar AoAs Transport & Energy

Lunchseminarium: Successful, industry relevant research projects - focus on FFI

Chalmers Areas of Advance Transport and Energy are happy to invite you to a lunch seminar on successful, industry relevant research projects, with a focus on FFI.

Fordonsstrategisk forskning och innovation (FFI) finances research and development activities regarding road transport and Swedish automotive industry. The activities have a focus on climate, environment and safety, and the grants amount to about SEK 1 billion per year.

At this seminar we bring up examples of how FFI projects can be performed with a balance between academic excellence and industrial relevance. We will also hear the Swedish Energy Agency's (Energimyndigheten) view on successful FFI projects.

After the presentations there will be time for questions and discussion.
Lunch wrap and coffee included!

Please note that the seminar is not open for students.

When: 14 March, 12.00-14.00
Where: Chalmers teknikpark, room Afrodite, Sven Hultins gata 9, Göteborg

The seminar is free of charge but the number of places is limited. Please register by the link below at the latest 9 March.

PROGRAMME

Introduction
Maria Grahn, Director of Area of Advance Energy

What is a succesful FFI project?
Peter Kasche, Swedish Energy Agency
This presentation will be in Swedish, with slides in English.

Balancing academic excellence and industrial relevance in FFI projects
Prof. Lars Davidson, Mechanics and Maritime Sciences, Chalmers

Abstract: FFI is the most important financial source for doing research related to automotive. Research projects must get active support from industry. This means there's a great risk that the research projects are too focused on solving the industry's immediate needs rather than doing research which is relevant for industry.

e.

In the seminar, I will give three exampes of succesful FFI projects where the industrial partners were brave enough to simplify the industrial case so that interesting research could be made.
