Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) are expected to revamp every aspect of society and industry, including its application in engineering disciplines. The EU-funded ATEM project will investigate the role of AI applications in accelerating the electrification of transport. Conducting research in the strong Swedish vehicle industry represented by Chalmers University of Technology, Volvo AB and Scania AB, the project will focus on the challenges in the transition process towards electrified transport systems through consolidation of the data-driven electrochemical battery model, deep reinforcement learning-based automated electric vehicle (AEV) speed control, and the AEV personalised routing recommendation model. Work will combine computer science, AI, electrochemical engineering, electrical engineering and transport engineering. The results will benefit the vehicle industry and transport management sectors.
