Platform-based development and production is a widely adopted strategy in product realization for balancing reuse and customization. The aim of this research is to significantly contribute to a new platform element description approach that, in a PLM environment, will provide a ground for reuse of assets in all product and production system development phases. This includes development of the platform itself as well as use of the platform to generate configured system variants, either directly or in combination with re-engineering activities.
Platform-based development is one of three research themes in Wingquist Laboratory VINN Excellence Centre Stage 3.
