This line of research centers on the challenge of meeting the increasing food demand of a growing and wealthier world population while at the same time minimizing the negative environmental impacts of agriculture. More specifically, the research explores options for minimizing land requirements for food production, and options for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture. Options assessed in this research include not only agronomic and technological advancements, but also changes in the structure of consumption and production of food (e.g. lower the meat consumption). The research also includes assessment of related policy options.
