Waste Heat Recovery

More than half of the chemical energy supplied to an internal combustion engine in the fuel is lost as heat, and the largest source is high exhaust enthalpy. Studies have shown that using heat recovery systems can reduce fuel consumption by 10 % for a Diesel engine. The goal of this project is to study various concepts for heat recovery for both a light duty and a heavy duty vehicle.
