The aim of the project is to contribute to a transformation of current transport systems. The goal is to achieve this by increasing the knowledge about behavioural aspects behind the transport purchase decisions
In order to reach the goal of a fossil free transport fleet by 2045 there is a need for major changes in society and its transport systems. It has been noted that technological changes including more efficient vehicles and new fuels are required but it will not be sufficient to reach the goals. In order to achieve fundamental changes, the demand for transport has to be addressed. In this aspect the transport purchasing is of great importance, since the choices transport purchasers make will have direct and indirect consequences on the use of different modes of transport, drivelines and fuels. In addition, transport purchasers’ demands will form future transport systems and put restrictions on how the transport providers work and also encourage them to work in a certain way. In order to influence the purchasing processes it is important to understand how the decisions are being made.
The project focuses on how human behaviour influence the transport purchasing
In order to increase the understanding of how transport purchasers are making decisions these will be conceptualised by the use of basic psychological theories about motives and barriers for behaviour.
