The proposed project aims to develop knowledge about how start-up companies establish themselves in network structures and function as engines for renewable energy. Start-ups are newly founded firms based on innovative technology aiming to commercialize renewable energy. The theoretical base is the industrial network approach and especially the assumption of resource heterogeneity, implying that the value of resources depend on how they are combined with other resources. For start-ups to become established and commercialize their technology, resources need to fit in and simultaneously confront the existing system. The project builds on a case research methodology of start-ups within renewable energy and going in-depth into two-three cases. All together this project is to contribute to an understanding of prerequisites for how a diversity of actors and technologies in interaction are needed for reaching renewable energy.
