How lean production philosophy can be combined with demands on sustainability
considerations
A large number of changes are now taking place in order to
adopt the lean production philosophies and to respond to sustainability
considerations. Design methodologies and decision support for developing lean
and sustainable supply chains, including integrated evaluation methods, are
needed.
This project addresses how to design and evaluate cost efficient
and sustainable supply chains that support Lean production processes. Models,
methods and procedures, including specific tools, to be used when designing
supply chain and evaluating performance, and when securing conformance to
sustainability requirements, are developed in the project.
The models
will be validated and adapted to the specific conditions in the participating
companies to enable implementation. By generalizing the results an intention is
to make the models available and useful for adaption to other manufacturing
companies as well.
