This collaborative project between Chalmers and a construction company aims to enhance proactive strategizing over business cycles in the construction industry to improve competence development. An in-depth ethnographic case study and a quantitative survey are carried out. The ambition is to achieve better understanding of the complex interdependencies between strategizing, organising and change processes and their influence on macro and micro organisational processes. It is timely to carry out this study in view of the dramatic global economy and the challenges this has on the balancing of short-term cost-cutting actions and strategizing for long-term competence development. The outcome is a viable action-oriented model to enable integrated strategizing. This project fills a gap in the strategy literature and benefits practitioners within and beyond Sweden.
The project is carried out at the Division of Construction Management.
