REWEEEL - Automated localisation and disassembly of batteries in WEEE-products
By utilizing the latest automation trends together with an innovative use of X-ray and image processing algorithms, this project aims to address the critical challenge that the vastly increasing amount of built-in batteries poses on the electronics recycling industry. The project's goal is to develop automated processes that solves the growing work environment problems and costs resulting from manual identification and disassembly of batteries from smartphones and tablets. In order to understand the requirements for the process to be developed, work will begin with the collection, photography and disassembly analysis of a large number of products. This ensures that the project is run on the basis of real needs. Through its solid expertise in recycling, automation, x-ray, image recognition, robotics, etc., the project group has a very good opportunity to carry out the project satisfactorily and thereby achieve the project's goals and expected effects.
