More by Less - Social Energy

Start date 01/01/2011

Energy use in households contributes to a large extent to Sweden’s energy consumption. To attain a sustainable future we must therefore reduce our everyday energy use in the home environment. This can be achieved through technical solutions and changed user behaviours.

The individual has great potential to decrease his/hers energy use by acting differently while interacting with products throughout the home. To be able to act energy efficient, people need knowledge and awareness to know which measures make difference. The project Social Energy aims to address this by offering households feedback on their energy use to increase their awareness and promote energy conservation. During the project, a service-based solution was developed in cooperation with Exibea AB and the solution was pilot tested during spring 2012. The service includes a web portal where households can get feedback on their energy use and analyse their energy situation.

Furthermore, the households can compare their energy use to other household’s and engage in challenges. The portal also provides the possibility to discuss energy issues amongst households.
