Objective and Goal: In the project new ways of reducing the aerodynamic losses in compressors is sought. One way of achieving this is to reduce friction from the air flowing over the surfaces in the gas passages. Today methods for polishing surfaces and washing engines are used for the purpose of reducing fuel consumption this way. From fundamental reseach new possibilities will be exploited that can reduce drag by changing the boundary layer friction by delaying transition. Result and Expected Effects: A recution of surface friction gives direct possibilities to reducing fuel consumption in engines for all applications. The engine environmentehibits complex flows for which the effects The expected outcome is a demonstrated reduced friction in tests that resemble pressure gradients and states in an engine environement.
