Internal Combustion Engine for a parallell hybrid

Hybridization provides opportunities to significantly reduce fuel consumption and will therefore play a significant role in reducing carbondioxide emissions in the future. Within the project, a three-cylinder direct injection SI-engine in a plug-in hybrid system will be studied. The goal of the project is to optimize fuel consumption and emissions at acceptable NVH during a driving cycle. Control strategies involving various forms of intermittent operation of the internal combustion engine means that cold and hot start strategies will be important. Also the impact of renewable fuels, E85 will be studied.
