Background: To meet future demands on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions it is necessary that the aerodynamic drag of all types of vehicles be dramatically reduced. In order to facilitate these need, tools are needed wich are reliable and time effective, both experimental and numerical. Need and Objectives: Build a solid knowledge base in the physics behind flow separation for ground vehicles, propose further development for experimental and numerical methods for accurate and lead time effective prediction of separation and propose impmenetation plan for the results into tools used at the participating companies. Plan: Perform both numerical computations and wind tunnel tests, follow up related research at universities and industry, generate a number of publications, initiate Advanced Engineering projects.
