The purpose of the project is to produce knowledge about how sustainable building has changed over time - current attitudes and focus areas in both a local and global perspective, and to investigate the implementation of knowledge from architectural education in practice. Questions in focus are: How has the view on sustainable building changed over time from the perspective of architectural education? What issues, concepts and challenges have been in focus in educational contexts and how have these been implemented in practice? The study is mainly based on a document study and interviews. The expected result of the project is an inventory and compilation of historical knowledge about the discourse on sustainable construction (concepts, challenges) in a local and a global perspective presented in a conference article.
The project deals with sustainable construction from the perspective of the architectural profession where research, teaching and utilization are integrated. The research team works closely with local actors within Gothenburg and the region. Knowledge from the project will thus be disseminated to those actors and is linked to "Knowledge Gothenburg". In a broader perspective, the project can be seen as part of the development of the research area sustainable building and has a direct link to the UN's sustainability goal 4 "Good education for all" but above all to goal 11 "Sustainable cities and communities" and not least to Sweden's environmental goal "Good built environment ”.
