Green Communication in Multi-Relay Wireless Networks
We propose a project on an environment-friendly multi-relay wireless network. In our project, multiple coordinated relays are used to satisfy the users quality-of-service requirements, with minimum impacts on the environment. The main objectives of the proposal are to improve the power efficiency, increase the portion of renewable energy in the wireless networks and develop carbon-reducing systems. To improve the power efficiency, we perform adaptive power allocation, harvest the required energy from renewable energy resources/interference and implement the power amplifiers properly. To cope with global warming and facilitate sustainable development, we add the radio pollution into the problem formulation, as a minimization goal. Advance mathematical tools, such as machine learning, game theory and stochastic geometry, are used for joint relay selection and power allocation. Compared to all current wireless networks, our project is a new paradigm as we change the interference from the most undesirable factor to something good improving the power efficiency. The project is collaboration between Chalmers University of Tech., Sweden, and Sharif University of Tech., Iran. This is an initiative for long-term collaboration and attracting more grants/partners. During the project, we will have regular technical meetings and several research visits. Joint conference/journal papers are written and we present joint tutorials/workshops in the outstanding related conferences.
