Geometry optimized adhesive joining II focused on assembly of components

Purpose and goal: The aim of the project was to develop the technique for geometrically optimized adhesive bonding with a focus on the assembly of entire components to reach a system think for simulation and robot application of adhesive. The purpose has been to further develop the techniques for the entire components: Increase knowledge about the design of the adhesive joint Optimize adhesive bonding with respect to geometry By simulating how the glue moves during assembly and where the glue ends after joining, achieve better joints Reduce changeover time, start-up time, discarding and spillage Expected results and effects: The project´s results give the opportunity to better predict the placement and function of the adhesive in the joint. This leads to better joint design and optimal utilization of the adhesive in the joint. With the output obtained by the simulation, it can control application of adhesive and mounting equipment in a more optimal way than what is happening today. Approach and implementation: The research group consisting of FCC and RISE IVF has, through measurements and analysis of the pseudoplastic materials handled by the project partners, been able to describe functioning rheology models that FCC implemented in its software platform IPS. This has then been evaluated in the laboratory and then tested at the project partners in their provided case.
