Experimental and numerical study of a rough wall boundary layer

​In order to reduce fuel consumption, loss of velocity and emissions in vessels, there is an increased need of knowing how much drag is caused by fouling on hulls. Fouling is the growth of organisms on vessel and ship hulls (algae, bacteria, barnacles, etc). Therefore, a solution in this regard is the production of antifouling paintings, but this solution also needs a method for drag prediction from arbitrary wall roughness.
