Graphene nanoribbons and organic nanofibers electronics
The proposal aims at the development of wafer-scale electronic components based on graphene nanoribbons and low-dimensional organic polymer nanofibers. We plan to use technology and the material of wafer scale epitaxial graphene, developed at Graphensic AB, for contacting organic nanofibers and in a collective effort develop and evaluate a new process of templated growth of graphene nanoribbons, which will serve as a core element of novel graphene-based transistors. Hybrid devices with graphene and low-dimensional polymer nanofibers will provide an opportunity to widen area of applications for graphene-based devices, allowing fabrication of sensors and wide range of optoelectronic devices at a wafer scale.
We plan to combine experitze of the Group of Professor Yung Woo Park in organic polymer nanofibers, knowledge and technology of Graphensic AB in exitaxial graphene growth, and the experitze of Sergey Kubatkin’s group in the device fabrication to develop wafer-scale electronic components based on graphene nanoribbons and low-dimensional organic polymer nanofibers.
In the beginning of 2015 Graphensic AB will install the high-temperature reactor in the cleanroom at Chalmers University. While reactor at Chalmers will be used for the development of graphene nanoribbon growth process, standard monolayer graphene films will be produced and supplied for the needs of the project by Graphensic AB. These films will be used for contacting organic nanofibers based devices.
