The project is part of a cooperation between the division (Electric Power Engineering), Volvo Cars and the research institute, SP.
In this project, transient conditions in electric drive systems for hybrid vehicles are investigated. The objective of this project is to gain knowledge about: possible fault conditions, transient demands and unbalanced operation of a faulty electric machine and converter. Objectives are also to improve the design of converters and electric machines to obtain drive systems with increased fault tolerance and more reliable operation. It is also an incentive, to model electric machines thermally and validate the models against measurements.
