Distribuerad massiv MIMO med lågprecisions-komponenter
The objective of this project is to characterize the theoretical and real-world performance of distributed massive multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) architectures that rely on low-precision components and on 1-bit direct sampling of the radio-frequency signal. The specific objectives of the projects are as follows: 1)"By characterizing the rate achievable over a bi-directional, distributed massive MU-MIMO link, we will determine a hardware architecture that operates at a suitable trade-off between complexity and performance. 2)"For the selected architecture, we will design low-complexity channel-estimation, data-detection, and precoding algorithms operating close to the limits unveiled in Objective 1. 3)"We will demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed architecture on a distributed massive MU-MIMO testbed, and use the insights obtained through real-world experiments to refine the theoretical models used to achieve Objectives 2 and 3. The project has the additional objectives of strengthening the collaboration between Chalmers and Ericsson within an area (radio access in 5G and beyond) that is important for the Swedish industry, of producing scientific publications and patents, and of enabling knowledge transfer between Chalmers and Ericsson.
