Concrete structures subjected to fragment impacts

​The society should be prepared for different types of crises. In the event of a war the society's investment by the large stock of built shelters becomes of great importance. However, in the current situation there are not built so many shelters and to be able to build safe shelters in future, it is necessary to maintain and increase the existing knowledge. This requires knowledge about transient loading, a knowledge that is a prerequisite for the ability to provide physical protection for people.

The aim of the project is to develop improved methods for concrete structures subjected to explosive loading. The project includes literature studies with assessment, development of computational models for blast wave and fragment impacts. These modeling techniques can be both analytical and advanced numerical models for describing and understanding the complex physical phenomena that occur in these types of loads.



The project is carried out by the Division of Structural Engineering in the research group Concrete Structures.
