The kitchen forms a central place in the home, for cooking and social interaction, and is more often than other parts of the home subject to renovations. Previous studies have shown that premature alterations and replacements of the kitchen and its appliances lead to unnecessary material flows and climate impact. The project “the Circular Kitchen” aims at developing interdisciplinary knowledge for more climate smart and circular kitchen designs, which will be co-created, developed, tested and evaluated in practice. The project is a public-private partnership in collaboration with TU Delft and funded by the European Institute of Technology with support from industry.
