BioFoulControl - Development of innovative and sustainable technology for control of marine biofouling on exchangers of vessels with ozone technology

The word anti-fouling is probably most commonly associated with anti-fouling paints on ship hulls. Fouling occurs however also inside the cooling systems (exchangers) of ships and may eventually cause severe problems. The BioFoulControl project aims at using ozone as an anti-fouling agent within the exchangers. Chalmers part of the project has been to investigate potential formation of harmful by-products and ecotoxicological testing of ozonated seawater.
