Do we have control of what ubiquitous software applications (apps) really do with the data underlying our digital lives? The answer is a resounding "no": current security mechanisms largely focus on access control and fail to track how information is manipulated by applications once access has been granted. Information flow tracking offers the promise of controlling what the apps do with our data. Yet while a large body of formal concepts has been developed, a crucial step of techniques and tools for practical programming languages and applications is missing for the promise of information flow to be fulfilled.
AppFlow´s primary mission is to put information flow control to work and bridge the gap between the theory and practice of information control.
