Analysis of present status and opportunities for bioprocesses integrated in biorefineries

Lignocellulose from wood and agricultural plants complies with this requirement and also represents an abundant resource. A prerequisite for a competitive production from biomass feedstock are energy efficient process solutions and an efficient utilization of all components of the feedstock in integrated plants with co-production of a diversity of products and energy. Processes using microorganisms and enzymes are among the options for conversion of biomass. The development in biotechnology have made great progress and the Swedish position is strong. The aim of this project is to map and analyze the potential and interest for bioprocesses integrated in energy efficient biorefineries and to create prerequsites for a close, long term interaction between a broad group of stakeholder from companies and research organisations.
