Analysis and improvement of insulation systems in electric motors exposed to high switching frequency

The aim of the project is to increase the reliability and efficiency of traction motors intended for electric vehicles that are supplied from drives with high switching frequency. The goal is to develop and test a recyclable insulation system that can withstand the voltage stresses generated by a new generation of inverters with fast energy efficient components. The major energy benefits of these components come when their properties, such as fast switching or high temperature resistance, can be utilized at the system level. In this case, it is a matter of faster switching that can result in a significant reduction in losses in electric motors. For this to be possible, the insulation system in the motors must withstand the high voltage pulses.
