Analys med manikin för bättre geometrisk kvalitet vid manuell montering (AMIGO)

The goal of the project is to analytically determine the level of complexity for manual assembly operations to achieve better geometric quality with the help of a manikin.

The project intends to take traditionally soft values and convert them into measurable parameters that can be proactively incorporated into new products and systems.

The aim is to connect two research tracks to develop an analytical solution that enables to simulate and proactively predict a system solution with regards to both the quality of the product and the conditions and the working environment of the operator. 

The research results are expected to create new and improved tools and working methods for geometry assurance engineers and production engineers who will be able to predict assembly-related quality risks analytically and problems associated with these at an early stage of development. Moving part of the focus on assembly solutions and process design from the preparation phase to the concept phase makes it possible to shorten the time for development of new products. There is potential for significantly reduced waste of both human and environmental and financial resources.

The project will be realized within the Wingquist Laboratory at Chalmers. The project will be based on case studies and based on real quality problems of the participating vehicle manufacturers Volvo Cars, AB Volvo GTT, CEVT, NEVS and Scania CV AB. The research will be based partly on previous results from Vinnova projects and partly on data from a number of new product concepts. The purpose is to get a enough sample to be able to generalize the results. A master thesis is planned. Three work packages will be included in the program.
