Katarina Gårdfeldt is affiliated Professor in Inorganic Environmental Chemistry at Chalmers. Her research focus is global transport and transformation of environmental pollutants with an emphasis on mercury species and micro plastics in Arctic and Antarctica.
Katarina is since 2018 the Director-General of the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat (SPRS), which is a Swedish governmental authority with the mission to co-ordinate and promote Swedish polar research.
She is the Chair for the National Committee for Environmental Global Change at the Royal Academy of Sciences (KVA) and board member of the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF).
