Thiringer awarded Volvo Cars Technology Award

​Torbjörn Thiringer, Professor in Electric Power Engineering, was awarded with VCTA (VCTA, VOLVO CARS TECHNOLOGY AWARD) at a ceremony conducted by the head of the R & D division Peter Mertens in the Volvohallen on Monday the 4th of November. For 2013, 13 teams at Volvo Cars was awarded the Volvo Cars Technology Award.

Torbjörn Thiringer together with 4 VCC and QRTech colleagues was awarded for their work on the Inverter for the V60 Plug-In vehicle. The inverter supplier in thigh connection with the team developed hardware and software, ISO26262 adapted the unit as well as ensured its vehicle adaptation, and was an important part of the successful introduction of one of the first plug-in hybrid vehicles in the late autumn 2012, the V60 Plug-in.  The criteria for VCTA is: New technologies with focus on  • Innovation • “Good engineering” • Proven results • Benefit for VCC.
