The role of phase changes in everyday life

Welcome to the promotion lecture of Gaetano Sardina.

Phase transitions (or phase changes) occur in many processes around us. Yet, their modelling is still an open scientific challenge. This talk aims to clarify the impact of phase changes in some relevant examples spanning from industrial, environmental and biological engineering.

About Gaetano Sardina:

Gaetano Sardina works at the division of Fluid Dynamics. His academic background is in Aerospace Engineering (MSc) and Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (PhD). His present research interests focus on sustainable process engineering, with emphasis on numerical simulations of multiphase flows. The main topic is the transport of particles, droplets and bubbles in Newtonian and complex flows
