Maritime Informatics - an emerging discipline responding to global concerns

​Welcome to the promotion lecture of Mikael Lind to adjunct professor in Maritime Informatics.


Shipping is the most efficient way of transporting goods around the globe. It handles about 90% of the world’s trade. To support the emerging uptake of digitalisation, Maritime Informat​ics unites researchers and practitioners in improving the efficiency, safety, resilience, and sustainability of shipping. At this lecture the history, constituents, and applicational areas of maritime informatics is at focus.


 Abou​t Mikael Lind

Dr Mikael Lind is Senior Strategic Research Advisor at Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE). He has initiated and headed several open innovation initiatives related to ICT for sustainable transports of people and goods. Lind serves as an expert for World Economic Forum, Europe’s Digital Transport Logistic Forum (DTLF), and UN/CEFACT. He has been the lead author of many concept notes in maritime and transport informatics brought up by international trade press and has become recognized thought leader in Maritime Informatics.​
