Improving vehicle energy use with efficient aerodynamics

Welcome to the promotion lecture of Simone Sebben to full professor
With the need for energy efficiency and reduction of green gas house emissions from the transport sector, aerodynamics has never been more important. In this lecture, I will discuss tyre and wake aerodynamics and low drag concept solutions such as platooning. I will also present some research topics in vehicle thermal management and how they contribute to reduced energy usage.

About Simone Sebben

Simone Sebben is professor and manager at the division Vehicle Engineering and Autonomous Systems. She obtained her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University, Canada in 1996. With several years’ experience as an aerodynamicist at Volvo Cars, she first joined Chalmers as an adjunct professor and later as an associate professor. Her area of research is on energy efficiency of road vehicles through improved aerodynamics and thermal management.
