ICSOS - International Conference on Ships and Offshore Structures

The third International Conference on Ships and Offshore Structures (ICSOS) will be hosted at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 17.09.2018 to 19.09.2018 in agreement and cooperation with Professor Jeom Kee Paik and his Journal of Ships and Offshore Structures. The conference seeks to provide a platform for selected high quality papers, from where the majority will be promoted to a special issue of the Ships and Offshore Structures journal (SAOS). The promotion process will be an essential part of ICSOS and allows for a time efficient inclusion of Your contribution into SAOS.
To ensure that only high quality papers will be presented at the conference, ICSOS is very pleased to be backed-up by an outstanding international scientific committee. The committee members will support abstract selection and the thorough review of the submitted papers, both for the conference and for the special issue of the journal.

Keynote speakers

The conference will be opened with three keynote speakers. They will in their lectures present and discuss sustainability in design and operation of ships and offshore structures.

  • Björn Sandén: Professor of Innovation and Sustainability, Head of the Division of Environmental Systems Analysis, Department of Technology Management and Economics, Chalmers University of Technology.

Björn Sandén conducts research, writes and teaches on topics such as climate and technology policy, life cycle assessment, technological innovation systems and industrial transitions. He has been involved in a range of studies on renewable energy and nanotechnology concerning how technology, economics and policy can interact to induce innovation and growth of environmentally benign technologies and how unsustainable pathways can be avoided. He works interdisciplinary and cooperates with sociologists and economists as well as chemists and physicists.

  • Katarina Gårdfeldt: Associate Professor and Director-General of the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat.

Katarina Gårdfeldt’s research is about global transport and transformation of mercury species in the environment and how these processes are affected by climate change. The research aim is partly to understand the processes in seawater and ice that are important for the gas-exchange between air and water, and how these processes are affected by sunlight. She has participated in several international research projects and expeditions e.g. in the Arctic.

  • Harry Robertsson: MSc Naval Architect, Technical Director of Stena Teknik.

Harry Robertsson has been employed by Stena since 1996 and been responsible for Stena Teknik since 1999. He has been project manager for several projects among others the new building project Stena Don, a semi-submersible drilling rig. He is the Chairman of the Board of the Swedish Maritime Competence Centre LIGHTHOUSE.
