Congratulations to Mélanie Despeisse, Production
Systems IMS, who recently became the Vice-chairperson for Women in
Production Management for the IFIP Working Group 5.7 on Advances in
Production Management Systems (APMS). This role is an opportunity to
further promote gender equality, to spotlight women's contribution to
the field of production management, and to support early-career
researchers in building their network.
Mélanie Despeisse's research area focuses on the relationship between industry and environmental sustainability at various scales, from operational resource efficiency in manufacturing processes to corporate social responsibility in strategic planning. The aim of her research is to develop tools and methods to help companies in creating sustainable value for society by implementing concepts such as eco-efficiency and circularity.
IFIP Working Group 5.7, Advances in Production Management Systems (APMS), belongs to the Technical Committee 5 of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). Established in 1078.
The aim of IFIP Working Group 5.7 on Advances in Production Management Systems is to globally promote and facilitate the advancement of knowledge, theory, technology, and industrial practice in the field of sustainable and smart production management systems. In this field, the focus of WG5.7 is on topics such as the advancement and integration of operational and information technologies (OT/IT), operations management and Industry 4.0-infused innovative business model development. The working group takes an inter-disciplinary approach to define the next generation of production systems, especially when exploring the future role of human ingenuity and the human workforce in manufacturing.
